This was supposed to be my summer of rest– my first summer off and the summer in between my senior year of high school and my first steps into the real world. Well… It hasn’t exactly played out that way, between the pageant, vacations, and college orientation, but it has been one amazing summer so far.
While I didn’t take the crown at Miss West Virginia, I was definitely satisfied with winning my talent preliminary and getting into the top 12 in my first year (yes, first. I will definitely be competing again in either West Virginia or New York.) It was an amazing week, and I made so many great new friends. I can’t wait to be back next year!
The days since the pageant have been busy, and this is the first time I’ve really been able to sit down and reflect. Right after the pageant, I attended my 80 year old grandmother’s wedding. It was a beautiful wedding, and it’s amazing that these two finally found their soulmates. It’s never too late to find love!
Directly after the wedding, I went back with my sister to her new home in Beacon, NY. We had a great couple of days catching up and goofing off, and it was great seeing her new home and meeting some of her friends. I’ve been so proud of her this year. I’m lucky to have such a great big sister and role model in my life.
And after all of that, I went directly to my orientation at Ithaca College. Though I’m still not exactly sure what I want to do or major in (politics for now,) I know that I’m in for an exciting four years at Ithaca no matter what. I had such a great time at orientation, and I feel like I’ve already made a lot of good friends. Ithaca is definitely my home away from home.
So…I still have a little over a month left of summer, and I really just want to sleep for the rest of it (but we leave for Canada on Friday.)
