9:11AM…Walked outside, eyes started to water, eyes froze.
9:20…Realizing I actually have no idea where any of my classes are, but they seem to be at the exact opposite end of campus from one another.
10:44…How do you math?
10:56…Math teacher just told us that she wants us to “have fun” in her class. It’s math?
I really can’t believe that I’m already in the second semester of my freshman year of college. Is this how fast every year of college is going to go? My dad drove me back on Saturday with more stuff in the car than I had on moving day–I have absolutely no idea how I’m ever going to move out at the end of the year. The last of my friends finally got back last night, and things went back to normal like we’d never left.
I’m really looking forward to this semester. Apart from math, I think I’m going to like all of my classes. I had my first math class today, and my teacher gave us a quiz–didn’t have a calculator…realized I don’t even remember how to subtract without one. I *suppose* that’s why they put me in Math 101. I’m also applying for a new major, Integrated Marketing Communications. As much as I love politics, I want a major with more career opportunities than teaching… I’m still planning on minoring in politics though. I’m also just really happy to get back to Ithaca and spend another awesome semester with my friends.
As much as I miss my parents sometimes…and especially my dogs, Ithaca has become my home. I feel more at home here than I’ve ever felt in Berkeley Springs. I actually have friends here… I’m finally around like-minded people… I finally feel like I have some direction and I’m not going to end up stuck in Berkeley Springs… and I finally feel comfortable. I love my hometown (sometimes…rarely…) but there are much better places in my future, and this is just the beginning.
