This summer went by way too fast, but I had so much fun and I’m so proud of all that I was able to accomplish.
It started with Miss New York in June where I made it into the top 11 and had one of the best weeks of my life. My year as Miss Erie Canal has had some ups and downs, but this was definitely one of the high points thanks to all of my amazing sisters in the Miss New York Class of 2015.
After a busy week at the Miss New York pageant in Staten Island I was pretty ready to just spend the rest of my summer sleeping…but instead I started this amazing internship with News Channel 34 in Binghamton. I learned so much at Channel 34 and I’m so thankful for all the opportunities I was given including making my first (and second) news packages that aired on the news.
In July I took a very well deserved break in Long Beach Island with Riley’s family. As you can probably tell, I’m not a huge fan of the ocean, but it was great to get away for a week and relax on the beach (in the sand…far away from the water.)
After finishing my internship and moving into my new apartment, I really needed another break, and I’m so glad I got to let loose for two weeks at the Peach Fest and Elements Music Festival before going back to school. I didn’t get any pictures of the Peach Festival because I didn’t have my phone (and even if I did, I didn’t shower for 5 days and no one wants to see that) but it was an amazing few days of music with performances by Old Crow Medicine Show, Gregg Allman, Willie Nelson, Bob Weir, Lotus, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Santana, and many more.
After this busy summer, it will almost be a relief to start classes tomorrow. I have some exciting plans in the works for junior year, so stay tuned!
